Spoleto

Spoleto:
SPOLETO DISTRICT
Municipalities: Spoleto, Campello sul Clitunno, Castel Ritaldi and Giano dell'Umbria
Territory. Surrounded by the Martani mountains to the southeast and Valnerina to the west, this area opens north towards the Umbrian plain and Foligno. A territory of great charm, a dynamic landscape whose appearance is softened by the extensive presence of olive groves across the hillsides.
Worthy of note: Spoleto, an important Umbrian town, from the third century BC it fell into the sphere of Roman power, then became a colony, called Spoletium, in 241 BC. Spoleto the magnificent is a sequence of distinctive nooks and historic charm, the perfect scenario for hosting the marvels and enchantment of the Festival of the Two Worlds, an international arts event held here each year, in June. The Clitunno Springs form a pretty lake of spellbinding colours before flowing into the river proper.
